Brazil registers 873 more deaths from COVID-19

Rio De Janerio (Brazil), June 7: Brazil on Sunday registered another 873 deaths from COVID-19, bringing the death toll to 473,404, Brazil's Ministry of Health reported.
It also reported a total of 39,637 new cases on Sunday, bring the total number of confirmed cases to 16,947,062.
In the last seven days, Brazil registered a daily average of 1,639 deaths from COVID-19 and 61,706 cases.
Brazil continues to rank second in the world in number of deaths from the pandemic behind the United States and third in number of confirmed cases following the United States and India.
So far Brazil has registered 225 deaths and 8,064 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the ministry.
The state of Sao Paulo, the most populated in the country, has been affected the most by COVID-19, with 3,365,160 cases and 114,404 deaths, followed by Rio de Janeiro, with 884,550 cases and 51,532 deaths.
As of Saturday, Brazil has vaccinated 71.6 million people against COVID-19, with 48.7 million people or over 23 percent of the population having received the first dose and 22.8 million or more than 10 percent fully vaccinated.
