Beam erection channel of Jakarta-Bandung HSR completed

Jakarta [Indonesia], August 26: With the completion of the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway (HSR) No. 2 Tunnel, the beam erection channel of the whole HSR was set up, laying a solid foundation for its opening-to-traffic in June 2023.
The tunnel with double tracks is located in Purwakarta County of West Java Province, and has a total length of 1,052 meters and a maximum burial depth of 53.6 meters. It is one of the most difficult parts in the construction of the whole line because of the abnormal soil texture that could easily cause deformation and mud-gushing.
At present, all 13 tunnels of the HSR have been completed, and 90 percent of the civil works of subgrade, bridges and stations have been completed. The track-laying of the main line has started. One of the electric multiple units and one test train, both customized for Jakarta-Bandung HSR, have been shipped to Indonesia on Aug. 21.
With a design speed of 350 km per hour, the Jakarta-Bandung HSR built with Chinese technology will cut the journey between Jakarta and Bandung, the capital of Indonesia's West Java province, from more than three hours to around 40 minutes.
