Brunei records 50.1 pct trade growth in February

Bandar Seri Begawan [Brunei], July 9: Brunei saw a 50.1 percent year-on-year growth in its trade to reach 2.25 billion Brunei dollars (1.61 billion U.S. dollars) in February this year, official data showed Friday.
According to the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, Brunei's exports increased by 54.8 percent year-on-year to 1.45 billion Brunei dollars in February, due largely to a growth in mineral fuel exports.
Mineral fuels contributed most to February's total exports by accounting for 76.9 percent with a value of 1.11 billion Brunei dollars, showed data.
Meanwhile, Brunei's imports rose by 42.4 percent year-on-year to 804.1 million Brunei dollars.
The highest share of Brunei's exports in February went to Japan at 20.6 percent, followed by Australia at 20.3 percent and China at 18.2 percent.
Of Brunei's imports in February, Kazakhstan accounted for 32.3 percent, followed by Iraq with 17.4 percent and Australia with 10.9 percent. (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.71 U.S. dollar)
