Car bomb in Damascus injures two

Damascus [Syria], April 4: A car bomb rocked the Syrian capital late Sunday, causing panic and slightly injuring two people, Syrian state-media and a monitoring group said.
The state-run Syrian News Agency SANA citing a police source said an explosive device was detonated in a civilian car in al-Mezze neighbourhood. "Two people who were passing by the area when the blast took place late Sunday were slightly injured," the head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel Rahman, told DPA. The head of the Syrian hospital Al Mouwasat told the Syrian daily Al-Watan newspaper that the two people who were received at the hospital were injured in their feet.It was not immediately known who was behind the blast, but Abdel Rahman said that a "man was in the targeted car but he escaped unharmed." According to a witness, the blast took place in an area where the local UN headquarters, embassies are located and also it was near the Syrian Ministry of Information. On February 19, a military commander in a group was killed near Damascus, the Observatory said. The blast came after a series air strikes that hit Syria last week. At least Five officers from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including a commander, were killed in last week's Israeli attacks near the Syrian capital Damascus. Israel regularly bombs targets in Syria in an effort to prevent arch-rival Iran from expanding its influence there.
