Apr 05, 2024

Washington [US], April 5: In a phone call on April 4, President Biden emphasized that Israel 's airstrike killed humanitarian aid workers and that the general humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is unacceptable, according to Fox News.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken later made a similar statement, saying that the US would change policy "if we don't see the change we need to see".
White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said that Israel needs to change its policy immediately in the "coming days and hours" and that the White House is waiting for early notification from the allied country. "The President clarified his concerns and the Prime Minister acknowledged those concerns," Mr. Kirby reported on the call.
According to the White House announcement, President Biden emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire because it is "important to stabilize and improve the humanitarian situation and protect innocent civilians."
The 30-minute call took place after Israel conducted an airstrike that killed 7 aid workers from the World Central Kitchen (WCK) organization. Prime Minister Netanyahu called it an "unintended" incident.
During the call, the two leaders also discussed the Iranian threat to Israel, and President Biden reaffirmed his steadfast support for Israel in the face of those threats.
"What we want is some real change on Israel's side. And if we don't see changes on their side, there will have to be changes on our side," Mr. Kirby said.
