Racial gaps exist in U.S. monkeypox vaccinations: AP

Aug 30, 2022

New York [US], August 30:Monkeypox vaccines are not adequately offered to the people who need the protection the most though U.S. President Joe Biden said Friday that there are enough doses, reported The Associated Press (AP) on Saturday.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention showed that only about 10 percent monkeypox vaccine doses have been distributed to black people even though they account for one third of U.S. cases.
Dr. YvensLaborde, director of global health education at Ochsner Health in New Orleans, said the gap is an echo of racial disparities seen during the COVID-19 pandemic.
